With 17 seats on the local authority, Enda Kenny’s crew will occupy the chairmanship of the council for the next five years with Ballyhaunis native John Cribbin tipped to be installed as the first Cathaoirleach.

Launch of Culture Night in Mayo

On Thursday September 10 at 7pm Cathaoirleach Cllr John Cribbin will launch Mayo County Council’s Culture Night Brochure. The launch will take place in Mayo County Library and all are welcome to come along. Entertainment on the evening will be provided by Mayo Arts Squad.

Mayo county councillors racked up more than €800K in six months

Figures released by Mayo County Council under the Freedom of Information Act have revealed that Mayo county councillors were paid out €836,212 from January to the end of June 2009, all relating to the six months pre-election. Independent Castlebar Councillor Frank Durcan who sought this information said that these figures are “immoral in the times that are in it”.
